Total length of the trip: 230 km

The Great Loop is highly recommended to genuine bike lovers who enjoy longer voyages. The route is 230 km long and it runs mainly along the red-marked Bicycle Route of Powiśle Gothic Castles. The route runs along asphalt or ground roads with little traffic which sometimes change into forest or field pathways.
The most convenient starting point is the railway station in Tczew, a perfect communication hub. If you start and end your trip in Malbork of Kwidzyn, you can save 20 kilometers of the access road, that is the national road no.22 of heavy traffic to the actual route.
Along this route you can enjoy visiting the most fascinating historical monuments of the region. There are well-preserved or at least partially preserved Teutonic castles in Malbork, Kwidzyn, Sztum, Dzierzgoń, Prabuty and Przezmark. If you wish to take a closer look at the fascinating history of those objects and discover some secrets and mysteries of ancient ruins, it would be better if you could split your trip into at least three days.
There is a number of different lodgings along the route, including “bicyclist-friendly” ones of various standards and prices: agritourism farms, rooms for rent, stylish hotels and guest houses.
Apart from gothic castles, there are also other remarkable attractions in the region of Powiśle and Żuławy. Along the route you can visit numerous historical palaces, manors, parks and natural reserves. In the Wisła valley you can find some unusual hydro-technical monuments and traces of the Mennonite culture: arcade houses and old cemeteries.
The landscape changes quite a lot: there are wide-spreading fields and pastures in the delta of the Wisła river and hills to the north of Iławskie Lakeland (Pojezierze Iławskie).
