Total length of the route: 38 kilometers

The route: Stare Pole (railway station) – Krzyżanowo – Klecie – Królewo– dolina Nogatu – Ząbrowo – Fiszewo – Stalewo – Żuławka Sztumska – Złotowo – Krzyżanowo – Stare Pole

Time: about 3-4 h

Suggested type of bicycles: mountain bicycles (MTB)

Road surface and a difficulty level: asphaltand ground roads with cobblestoned sections, partially of poor quality, muddy or surfaced with concrete slabs. A difficult route for bicyclists who enjoy off-road cycling

Route marking: no marking except for the area of Szaleniec and Żuławka Sztumska (the black-marked Mennonite Route)

Route description:

The route runs in the area of the borderline between Żuławy Malborskie and Żuławy Elbląskie. The southern section of the route (in the vicinity of Żuławka Sztumska) partially runs along the edge of Iławskie Lakeland plateau. The northern section of the route, between Janówka and Ząbrowo, runs across the trackless land and along some pathways across the wild, uninhabited area of the Nogat river valley. Most of this area is a typical flat land of Żuławy. In the past there used to be swamps and floods drained and reclaimed by men since the Middle Ages.

The remnants of the Mennonite settlement are particularly fascinating – a cemetery in Szaleniec, the arcade houses in Stalewo and Klecie. You can also visit gothic churches in Żuławka Sztumska and Krzyżanowo, a gothic chapel and a church from 1820 in Królewo and a neo-gothic church in Stare Pole.
